A-LIST: Blind Clothing SS|13

I remember when I landed back in Cebu from all the board exams shiz last March, the first thing I was so hasty to work on was Blind Clothing's next cut-and-sew collection. Ninz and I dug through our idea jar for inspirations, searched for fabric, and started working on prototypes and trying to get them right. I am not a fashion designer by profession but I don't recall being as obsessive compulsive in our pieces as much as I have now. I guess all the working with the furniture factory taught me the value of construction detail, putting dimensions in everything, keeping a keen eye on the every cut, and basically making it easy for the tailor to get it right. Fast forward to 4 months after, our 13-piece collection is finally complete. Hurray! :)

Our incoming collection is basically pegged on chic luxe. With the influx of clothes coming into the market like curry in hong kong, and kwek-kwek in the Philippines, we found ourselves looking for good clothing structure, good shape and proportion, good color palettes, and of course texture texture texture!

A good team of super talented artists were so kind as to collaborate with us in helping us come up with our look book just for you: Dexter and Shanida Maneja (photographers) , James Canete (hair and make-up), and Christine Morrill (model)... also the very warm and fun Chillage team were so accommodating as to let us shoot in their very chic home exuding with all sorts of good vibe and positive energy it almost makes you high!

So please please please...  come join as we launch "THE A-LIST" tomorrow, August 14 (Wednesday) at 8 on our facebook page!  Let me leave you with our teaser video! See you all! x

Water Gypsy

A day after my parents spent their weekend anniversary alone together at Crimson, the rest of the family caught up and joined their celebration. I took one of our samples (from Blind Creations, our cut and sew line) out for a try. Ninz and I like testing out our samples so that when we do release them, we can vouch for their wearability and comfort, and tell for ourselves that the clothes we make can actually make its wearers feel good. I had fun wearing its oriental pattern/palette, and especially the freeing silhouette. Clothes that feel somewhat sexy even if they don't hug at all are magical.

This maxi dress is made of printed chiffon, with an overlapping V-cut draping at the front and with a V zip-up back. These, along with other designs will be released this June so please stay tuned for that. Thanks to Ninz, as usual, for taking my photos! :)

Slip Dress: Blind Creations S|S 2013

On a lighter note, Crimson Resort and Spa, ever since it opened, had been our family's favorite haven since it is most relaxing compared to all other resorts in Mactan, personally speaking; then again maybe it's just my personal bias for anything zen: from bamboo-wood-stone furnishes, white pebbles and woven furniture, citrus colored fabric, down to scented oils, orchids on towels, and anything eastern. I swear my future home will have a little bit (or a lot) of "Crimson" to it.

Oh and, the chilled and scented towels served at the scorching hot beach front was brilliant. It was a fun day fooling around in a tiiiiiny private pool with 6 people (my entire family, can you imagine? haha!) and then bumming out at the beach with my siblings Ninz and Don. :) Summer in the Philippines is coming to a close. Are you ready to see less photos of the beach on your news feeds? I'm not, but oh well :))

A Change of Heart

Ohmygod, where do I even start? :))

Hello, Blogosphere. I miss you like an orphan misses her mom! I know I've been MIA a lot of times but not like this, It has been a long 2months since my last post. But I am back for good and I can't wait to fill this blog with more interesting and varied things (absolutely not about myself, so don't worry!:D ). I WILL show you things I've been up to for the past months later but for now, here's a comeback outfit post.

These photos are from the last day of the BlindClothing trunk show held at the I.T. park, Lahug, Cebu last Christmas season. With the setting down, cutting wires, and bonding with guests I knew I was going to need something I can move in but still look age-appropriate and fashionable. A plain black jumpsuit is fashionable? To me, yes. As with a lot of bloggers, I've been experiencing a change of heart as to personal style. I've always been a boho-chic girl but lately I feel more comfortable and confident in simpler, more chic and sleek ensemble.. I never thought I'd be a sucker for low heels and soft pants. Can I still pass of as a fashion blogger? :)) You see, I have always believed that style should never be forced-- it is either reflective of who you are or the kind of person you want to be.

Of course, I wore something from our own brand and from its cut-and-sew line if I may add. Represent! \m/  It's one of the very first rtw pieces Ninz and I designed.

Indeed this night turned out to be epic. I have only been able to visit our booth at its opening and closing but both were highlights I'm so glad I didn't miss. It was this night when we miraculously reached a profit we'd normally get in 2 weeks. Talk about divine intervention.

Overwhelmed, Ninz and I would like to thank all those who supported us last December on our very first exposure outside the worldwide web. Much love to my fellow bloggers Gillian, Vanessa, Chyrel, Toni for being so nice as to grace our steal section with stylish but affordable pieces (some I even bought myself).

A disaster in our own home happened and cost us almost everything we earned that month and I must admit I'm beyond heart broken. But rest-assured, after a little rest and recovery, we'll give you ladies more to be excited about. :)

This is getting really long. Please say I'll see you in my next post!  :)

Ever-so-back,
Dawn

Blind Creations: Clandestine

You thought I might have come to tell you stories of princes and castles but what you know not, is that stories chase and bite and haunt.

 CLANDESTINE: Blind Creations A|W 2012.

The latest from our brand's cut-and-sew line is out now. It has been 2-3 months delayed but it's finally out.
Being the second and last for this year, this collection is like a recital of the young's most favorite trends from the year 2012: pastel, aztec, cut-out, sporty cut, ombre, and peplum rolled into four designs. It is inspired by duality, secrecy, and contradiction.  Spring in winter. Summer in Fall.  Chiffon skirts over sweaters. Dainty spandex dresses underneath trench coats. Pretty girls with secrets. Meek girls with alter egos.  Beauties with inner beasts. I believe in some way some time ago, we have all had our clandestine.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a tremendous team of young (no one over 23 haha!) people to be thankful for.  People who are very easy to work with but are extremely brilliant at what they do. People who endure for the sake of passion and adventure and art. I'm not kidding these people are dark horses Barbeth, Christine, Allyana, Jhely, Buddy.. It has been a pleasure working with these guys and I hope that if they're reading this, they tap themselves on the back and take a graceful bow as if I had some 500 people giving them a standing O as I roll out the credits below. :)

Secrets at Sea: A Summer Editorial

-----------------------------------------
BLINDxx creations present:
SECRETS AT SEA

PHOTOGRAPHED: Matt Aesthetic
STYLISTS: Dawn Sy, Ninz Sy
MODEL: Jessika Knight
---------------------------------

The sea.

A threshold of all my secrets
My company in this tranquil solace

This sea.
Where lost ships live
and treasures

lay hidden.
where secrets and shadows lay dreaming.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope you like the editorial we made just for you guys. Leave a comment and tell us what you think maybe?:)
I'd like to take this opportunity to also thank Matt, James, and Jess for being so kind as to doing this collaboration with us. Matt seems intimidating online but is a fun and warm person in the flesh, a super gifted all- natural fashion photographer whose sense of taste fits mine oh so perfectly (and shoots really fast!). James is a foxy and bubbly fairy god mother whose wands are his brushes, Im not exaggerating (keks and pastries-- right James?). And Jess, aside from being just plain beautiful, is probably the most candid model I've worked with-- she looks high profile but my god she changes in the car, wears and takes off anything, stands on nasty rocks, walks thru soil barefoot and happily does it all without a single complain. And she does all these while sober. :)) Im seryaaas, couldn't ask for a better team on this particular project!

Don't forget to check out the official catalogue tomorrow at 8:30!
Aaaand here's to the team. (Ninz behind camera) :

BLINDxx Creations opens on Summer 2012! :)

Exactly 10 months ago, my sister Ninz and I (out from the immense love for fashion and the cute but honest desire to make our own living) opened Blind Clothing. What has long been an amusing idea in my head turned out to be an online reality on that 27th of May 2011. It was a product of our giddy late night talks over sheets and pillows. :)

10 months, and BLINDxx has been working its own way up slowly but surely providing personally hand-picked and styled classy, wearable, trendy but timeless and affordable items that cater to any fashion forward girl's sometimes-impulsive-appetite. (Raise your hands, guilty people!)

This March, BLINDxx takes it a step further as it branch out to its own creations line. From BLINDxx picks, we introduce BLINDxx creations. BLINDxx creations carry limited edition, ready-to-wear pieces that are premium designed and sewn in-house, blind style.
Summer is every fashionista's christmas... a celebration from the most talked about in-season pastels, to the color block and print that a lot of us still can't get over. That's why it is our season of choice.

Join us as we launch BLINDxx creations with an editorial entitled : SECRETS AT SEA
featuring the clothes from our creations line with 4 pioneering simple but flattering designs-- in different colors, with not more than 2 pieces per item. It is also with great pride and fabulous honor that we announce that this is in collaboration with our favorite young trail blazers in the local scene: Matt Aesthetic and James Canete.

As much as I was itching to post more, I can only leave you with this dear readers. :))
Straight from Matt's Screen. Love, yes?

You are invited! In sisterly lovin, Join us in the ff:
